It's been two months since I've been in my new place, and I'm still sitting on the floor in the mornings to do my make-up. Clearly, moving is kicking my butt. Hopefully I'll be a bit more settled in the new year. Wishing you all a fantastic holiday season!

How amazing is this wooden watch?! I've been dying to add a time piece to my accessories for quite some time, but I could never take the plunge on the Michael Kors or MBMJ pieces that have become insanely popular in recent years. This JORD watch is understated but still timeless, and I love how incredibly light-weight it is.

P1250498

While this watch is splash proof, it's best not to fully submerge it as the all natural wood material can warp. JORD offers free shipping worldwide, and for an additional $10, they'll also re-size your watch for you. You also get to keep the additional links for any future re-sizing. Not a fan of silver hardware or light colored wood? Not a problem! There are tons of other styles and colors to choose from. Check out their entire selection here!

I'll make the most of the minutes and love with no regrets

I've been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old, and it's been a trip to see what my choices have been over the past 17 years (Remember when small, circular metal frames were popular?! *shudder*).

Firmoo is an online optical store that sells prescription and non-prescription glasses and sunglasses. The best part is, they have a Try-On feature that lets you upload a photo of yourself to virtually 'try on' the glasses. If you're thinking that this might not be an accurate way to see how a pair of glasses look on you, you're not alone. I totally thought the same thing, and when I picked out this pair, I ignored the fact that they seemed slightly too wide for my face.

The ordering process is super simple. I just plugged in my prescription and in just over a week, my new glasses were here (even after a shipping snafu on my part)!

glasses

How gorgeous is the burgundy colour? I'm normally pretty safe with my glasses (black, black, and more black), but I couldn't resist taking a chance this time around. And you know what? I'm totally digging the oversized frames. The glasses came packaged in a hard case, which is perfect for traveling, and the ear pieces are actually quite easy to adjust for that perfect fit.

For all of you first time Firmoo tryers, they're currently offering 15% off your first pair!

We made these memories for ourselves

I have a confession to make: I only comb my hair once a month.. and that's being generous. I typically only tackle the hurdle that is my hair when a tangle gets so bad that I can actually see it. When Nail Polish Canada reached out and asked if I wanted to review two brushes known for their snag-free detangling abilities, I'll admit I was a bit hesitant at first. However, after doing a bit more research on the Tangle Teezer and The Wet Brush, I was hopeful that one of them would be the one to change my habits.

P1250270

Some quick comparisons:
- On size: The Tangle Teezer (TT) is obviously a lot smaller and is easier to travel with. It fits comfortably in the hand. The Wet Brush (WB) is the size of a standard hair brush.
- On quality: The TT seems a bit delicate and more likely to break if dropped. The WB has a silicone feeling handle that is slip free and feels sturdy.
- On price: They are both similarly priced at about $15 - $16 CDN.

comb

Now on to some of the nitty gritty details:

- On comfort: Both brushes have plastic bristles, but the WB has bristles that are capped with rounded SofTips which help to massage and stimulate the scalp. The TT has rows of uneven plastic bristles that, to be frank, hurt.. but in a good way. Kind of like when you're ripping off a band-aid or waxing your legs. It can be a little intense at first, but when used carefully, it does feel as equally stimulating as the WB.

- On performance: Both brushes claim to gently glide through the hair instead of snagging and pulling on tangles, and I find that to be true of both of them. They both detangle wet and dry hair really well, and is pain-free to boot! One major difference I find is that with the WB, you have to go through your hair several times to get out all the tangles, while with the TT, one pull through a section is usually enough. This is probably due to the difference in the bristles.

While the Wet Brush and Tangle Teezer have both lived up to their claims, I find myself ultimately reaching for the Tangle Teezer more often. When used on dry hair, the Tangle Teezer leaves me tangle-free without leaving my hair frizzy and puffed up like an angry cat.

Man, March is totally kicking my butt! I started off my birthday month by getting food poisoning (I think the third year in a row means it's officially a tradition..) followed by a bout of the flu that currently has me croaking like a little old lady who smokes three packs a day. On the upside, feeling the sun tickle my face these past few days has given me enough of a boost to power through the rest of the week.

Hope everyone is staying healthy enough to enjoy the longer days!

The rest of the world was black and white but we were screaming in colour

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I really fell head-over-heels for my L'Oreal Infallible lipstick.. so much so that I ran out to Target and bought three more! Not only did I pick up the shade that I had my eye on (Perpetual Apricot), but I also grabbed Cherry Noir and Teaberry.

The Infallible line seems to have gotten a make-over. Instead of the small, lighter-shaped packaging, these 2-step lip colours now come in a slim, double-ended tube.

One end contains the lip colour with a large doe foot applicator, and the other side is a twist up balm with a pull off cap.

Cherry Noir is a bit misleading in the name. It's more of a dark plum as opposed to a dark red. It's a great vampy fall colour regardless.

Continual Crimson is a great basic blue-based red.

Teaberry is a MLBB (My Lips But Better) kind of shade. It's a neutral pink that leans more on the mauve side with very subtle shimmer.

Perpetual Apricot is a wearable orange. It has this amazing gold shimmer that gives it a sort of metallic finish.

From L to R: Continual Crimson (taken after eating!), Teaberry, Perpetual Apricot, Cherry Noir

I wasn't joking about the lasting power on these babies. The inner part did fade (more like flake off.. I don't think I applied enough balm!) after devouring a greasy brunch and coffee, but it wasn't noticeable unless you pouted.. and honestly, who walks around like that anyway?

Some tips on these liquid lipsticks:
1. It can apply a bit streaky, so I would suggest redipping back in the pot to do your upper lip.
2. Don't smoosh your lips together right after you apply! I really can't stress this enough. It gets tacky fairly quickly and if you don't let it fully dry before you smack your lips together, it will get blotchy.
3. Be verrry generous with the balm and make sure to reapply it throughout the day as I find this really 'locks in' the colour. Don't miss the inner part of your lips!
4. You NEED an oil-based remover to take this off.

These lipsticks are $11.99 at your local Walmart, but if you hurry, you can grab some at 30% off at your nearest Target liquidation sale!

I watch us go round and round each time

Just thought I'd check in and show you guys my favourite purchases of January!

MICRO MODAL ASYMMETRICAL BRA
Image from HelmutLang.com

Yes, this is expensive for what it is (basically a band of fabric), but I love the asymmetrical straps! I finally took the plunge after flip-flopping on this bra for the better part of a year, and I could not be happier. Plus, the 30% off discount sure didn't hurt! This looks amazing layered underneath slouchy tees and sweaters. You can wear the straps both over one shoulder, or split between the two. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I've worn this more than a handful of times in the short amount of time that I've had it!

                    Continual Crimson 213
Image from LorealParis.com

I have an unreasonable amount of lipsticks, but this one has easily jumped to the top of the favourites list. If you're looking for a food-proof, kiss-proof, apocalypse-proof lipstick, then look no further. This thing does not budge, even after a greasy meal and tons of lip-licking! I highly suggest using the balm throughout the day to 'lock in' the colour. From what I've gathered, different shades are offered in different countries, so I suggest hitting up your local drugstore to see what's available. I've got my eye on Perpetual Apricot next!

Image from UrbanOutfitters.com

I love a good pre-layered sweater! This knit is an oversized fit without being too baggy, and I love the lace hem. It's not too delicate, so you don't have to worry too much on whether or not it's going to snag. It's not really a 'thick' knit though, so you might want to consider layering a thermal underneath for colder weather. I really love the way it's styled on the model, although I will most definitely be wearing shorts underneath when I attempt the same look!

Did you guys purchase anything this month that you really love?

I wish I had a good explanation for such a long hiatus, but the the truth is that I've just been really uninspired lately! My blog has never really had a 'direction,' and I was putting pressure on myself to really think about what I wanted to do with this little space of mine on the web.. and then I started wondering 'why?'

I started this blog as a hobby, and it still is just that - a hobby. It was something creative to do in my free time as a way to relieve stress.. and I was stressing myself out over my stress-reliever! My blog has always been about really simple things: the newest make-up, the latest trends, my most recent closet acquisitions.. And you know what? That's okay.

New lipsticks and necklaces may be trivial things, but they make me happy.. And this blog makes me happy, so it seems like a win-win to me!
