I'm waking up to ash and dust

Zara combination romper (dress version here), Forever21 bow belt, Zara kitten heels, Alexander Wang Rockie in Mercury (in Tundra here)

Can I start off by pointing out how crazy tan I've gotten?! I was in Philadelphia for a bit, which is why posts have been sporadic. I've only just started getting back in to my usual routine.. post-vacation hangovers can be tough!

My bones may break but I'll never be untrue

Boohoo is a new UK-based online retailer that has recently expanded it's global reach to Canada and I was lucky enough to be invited to their launch party a few weeks ago!

Boohoo's motto is 'twenty-four/seven fashion' and their products and price points remind me of a sort of union between ASOS and Forever21. They have a mix of basic and trendy items at very reasonable price points. They also have a 'Boohoo Boutique' section which offers items that are more on the 'high end' of fast fashion and is reflected in their slightly higher price point.

The location was beautiful. The weather was hot but there was a nice canopy with lots of seating underneath so that people could get out of the hot sun when they wanted. Many of their collections offered on the website currently were out on display for people to browse. I like that they provided such different pieces, instead of the more safe options (a fully-sequined floor-length dress, anyone?).   The decor was very pink and girly, and the dessert table was fabulous! There were catered appetizers and even a small bar that served quite delicious drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic!

They even provided small take-out boxes for us to stuff full of goodies!

All-in-all, it was a fun party and a great way to kick off their Canadian launch! As part of the goodie bag, Boohoo generously offered us a voucher to their website. I spent several days pouring over their inventory, and I have the Julia Box Pleat Sleeveless Skater Dress and the Katty Scuba Box Pleat Skater Skirt on it's way to me right now. I couldn't be more excited, especially after seeing Elle's review on the Lorna dress, which is also on my wishlist!

With the fantastic shipping options available to Canadians, I have no doubt about their success! A huge thank you to the team at Boohoo and NKPR for the invite.

It's got mountains, it's got rivers, it's got sights to give you shivers

The Loose Button team has kindly sent me a Summer Luxe Box, which I will be giving a first impressions review on.

One thing I did notice by looking at other reviews is that my box is on the smaller side in terms of the number of products. As always, the items were wrapped in a silky drawstring bag tucked inside a sturdy white box. While they included a nice hand-written note, there was no product information card this time around, so I apologize if I'm not naming the products correctly.

First up is a full sized Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Moisturizer in 'Light to Medium.' This is supposed to work as a tinted moisturizer with SPF15. The pump is very easy to work with, and while the colour was a tad too light on the back of my hand, it blended seamlessly in to the underside of my arm. This moisturizer absorbed fairly quickly, and dries to a very soft, satin finish. While I think the shade is just slightly too light for my face, it's nothing some bronzer won't fix! I'm super excited to start using this, as the warmer weather means a full face of make-up is no bueno.

The second thing I noticed was the Essie Sleep Stick Nail Stickers in 'Embrace the Lace.' I've tried the Sally Hansen ones previously and found the application to be quite simple and long-lasting. The only downside was the removal. This pattern is very pretty and conservative enough to wear to work. I'll definitely be putting this to the test soon, as it's just about time to change my nail polish.

Next up is the KMS California Free Shape. This is a quick dry spray that you apply to towel-dried hair right before you're about to blow dry it. It has that slightly floral scent that all hair products seem to have. I'm not too interested in this as I very rarely blow-dry my hair.. and by very rarely, I mean at most twice a year.

From left to right:
Crabtree & Evelyn Wisteria Hand Therapy in 'Glycine' - It has a very pleasant floral scent that is light, which I find very important in creams. It's a thick cream which means I will most likely be using this at night before bed. I find the squeeze tube very convenient, as well. I'm not huge on hand creams, but I know I will use this.

Lancome Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate - Yup, that's right.. another sample of this. I know most people would be driven crazy by the repeat of items, but I really do love this so I'm definitely not complaining. The 1 oz sized bottle retails for $95!

Marni Eau de Parfum -  I'm not the greatest at describing perfume smells (after a while, don't you find they all start smelling the same?). I can definitely smell something spicy though.. Not a fan of the 'stopper top' style of this sample.

The last item in my box are these Condition Culture Knotties. This style of hair-tie has become quite the trend among celebrities, and I've seen many different brands coming out with their own version. These hair elastics are a fun way to update your up-do and can double as fun bracelets. I own a few of these already, so I know I'll definitely put these in to the rotation for summer.

Overall, I would rate my box a 5/7 in terms of product usage. The products really do seem geared towards the hot summer weather, which is a step up from previous boxes. As I mentioned before, it seems like my box doesn't contain as many products as other reviews I've seen, but that is the allure of these subscription boxes.. You never really know what you're going to get!

Sign up before July 7th to qualify for the Summer Luxe Box by clicking here and using invite code 'xjole.' This time around, Loose Button is offering their subscribers 4 different limited edition Luxe Boxes alongside their regular Summer Luxe Box, so make sure to upgrade while you still can!
