Don't take for granted the passion she has for you

One of my most favourite beauty items definitely has to be lipsticks. I haven't worn eye shadow in quite some time, so I always depend on my lipstick choice to really make a pop. I love how put together you look the minute you swipe some on! If I had my way, I would wear bright lipstick every day. Hot pinks, oranges, deep reds.. I don't discriminate! With that being said, one of the worst things about wearing bright lipsticks is that once it smudges, it smudges.

Imagine my excitement when Loose Button sent an email saying they were sending No Bleeding Lips' Secret Lip Liner to test out. They were also kind enough to include one for a reader, so stay tuned for the giveaway at the end of this post!

What this product is is a lip liner that is 'colourless, creating an invisible line around you lips. It stops lipstick and lip gloss bleed and feathering plus creates a sheer defined lip shape. It's waterproof and long-lasting (5 hours or more) so you can wear your lipstick and lip gloss with confidence.'

The packaging is slim and sleek, very similar to a pen-style liquid liner. One note of warning though: once you wind the lip liner up, you cannot wind it back down. I suggest twisting the liner slowly, because the amount it winds up is pretty minuscule, so before you may know it, it could be an inch long!

Another interesting is that unlike a regular lip liner, you actually line the outside of your lip. This means you can be as messy as you want and colour outside the lines without fear! Definitely a plus for those with shaky hands.

The lipstick that I'm wearing in these series of of photos is MAC's amplified lipstick in 'Coral Polyp,' which was a limited edition product from their Dame Edna collection. On the far left is just after application. The colour is a vibrant coral pink and glossy. The middle photo is after two hours in which I had a few snacks. You can see that while the colour is still vibrant, the gloss has definitely worn off. Despite drinking and blotting my mouth, the lipstick is still within the lines of my lips. So far so good! The right photo was taken at the end of the night after two (sauce-y!) meals. You can see that the colour has faded almost entirely off my top lip from constantly wiping and licking my lips, but no smudging!

Verdict? A definite winner! I'm a huge fan of red lipsticks, but I find myself constantly checking in a mirror to see if any of the pigment had wandered across my face. With this product in my arsenal, I no longer have to worry about that.

Interested in trying this product out yourself? Well, Loose Button was kind enough to provide a second lip liner for a giveaway! Just a few simple rules: the giveaway is only open to Canadian readers, and will run from now until Friday, September 28th at 11:59 EDT. What if the sky and the stars are for show

A few weeks ago, I took a friend to high tea at the Windsor Arms Hotel. This was our first time with any sort of high tea experience, so we weren't quiet sure what to expect. The Windsor Arms is actually a very beautiful hotel, albeit a small one. We were early for our reservation, but we were seated quickly anyway. Get ready for a ton of photos!

The Windsor Arms has three tea rooms, and we were seated in the smallest. And by smallest, I mean really small. We eavesdropped on the table next to us because we honestly couldn't help it. We were so close that a waiter couldn't even fit himself between our tables. The room that we were put in was pretty depressing as well. The walls were painted a deep dark red, and the windows had thick, heavy curtains. We peeked in to the other two rooms as we were leaving and couldn't believe how beautifully lit and decorated they were.

Clockwise from top: clotted cream, strawberry jam, berry preserves

Goat cheese and caramelized shallot tart

Fresh scone with lemon zest

R to L: Cucumber, smoked salmon, grilled chicken

Petite fours

Strawberries with fresh whipped cream

Looking at these photos now, I've realized I forgot to include a photo of the teas that we got! They were both on the fruity side (mine more so than hers) and served in two different tea pots.

We started off our meal with the tart, followed by the scones, both of which were extremely good. This was our first time trying scones, and they were delicious, with or without the condiments! The sandwiches were disappointing, but I was expecting that to be honest. All the reviews that I've read about the Windsor Arms has repeatedly pointed out that the sandwiches were gummy, and they were. The petite fours, while good, weren't anything to brag about. The highlight of the meal was definitely the fresh berries and cream!

Overall, I would say that the Windsor Arms Hotel is a great high tea experience for beginners. They had a decent selection of teas, and the food, while average, was enough to fill you up. The atmosphere could have been better. It felt like they had just shoved us in to the small, cramped room because we were kids. High tea is definitely a fun thing to do with girlfriends, and I already have another location in mind for our next time!

I'll keep you locked in my head until we meet again

As I'm sure you guys already know, Loose Button has recently launched a new seasonal subscription box and I was lucky enough to receive their first Fall Luxe Box!  This will be a first impressions review, so expect lots of photos!

Right off the bat, you could see a huge difference in their new Luxe Box design. The new box is long, white, and extremely sturdy. I actually hit myself in the face trying to pry the lid off! This would make a great storage box, and I plan on reusing it to hold some of my jewelry.

The dreaded black cushioning is gone! Instead, the items are beautifully packaged within a white silky piece of fabric. It definitely amps up the excitement factor and really makes you feel like you're part of a luxurious experience (hence the 'Luxe Box' name!). I kind of miss seeing my name when I open the box, but their new sticker definitely adds to the whole extravagant experience.

One other detail that I found pretty cool is that their description card now comes with a legend! Next to each product name and description is a little symbol letting you know what type of sample you're receiving (rare sample, product launch, exclusive sample, or full-size product).

1. China Glaze nail lacquer in 'Exotic Encounters' - Step into the Fall season with China Glaze's newest 'On Safari' collection.

I don't know if I would really consider this shade of green a fall colour, but I do like the formula of CG polishes, and it is a full-sized product, so I guess I can't really complain!

2. Kerastase Elixir Ultime with Immortal Moringa - Helps damaged hair feel replenished and nourished.

This has a really strong, earthy kind of scent. Perfect for taming winter frizzies and split ends! You do have to be careful not to use too much though, as it can make your hair look really oily.

3. Benefit Stay Don't Stray - A dual-action primer that works 360 degrees around your eyes to help your concaeler and eyeshadow stay all day.

I've never really had any problems with eye primers, so I'm pretty neutral on this product. It dries to a semi-matte finish, and actually leaves a light tint to your eye lids. The colour is lighter than my current skin tone, so it is quite noticeable if I were to only wear this with eye liner.

4. Lancome Visionnaire - Fundamentally recreating more beautiful skin, this is more than just a wrinkle-corrector.

I absolutely love serums, so I'm quite delighted that I received this sample. It has that signature Lancome scent (think floral with slight hints of medicinal) and the application is silky smooth. It doesn't absorb too quickly, but I personally like the feeling of touching my skin and feeling just how moisturized it is.

5. Blinc mini-mascara in 'Black - Blinc mascara will add volume and length to give you a radiant natural look that lasts all day.

Not a huge fan of this mascara based on my initial trial. I prefer thickening and volumizing mascaras, and this one only tinted my lashes darker and added just a bit of length. I may achieve different results if I applied more than a single coat. I actually enjoyed removing the mascara (all you need is warm water) and seeing the little tiny tubes slide off my lashes.

6. Eyeko Skinny liquid eyeliner - A precise, accentuating liquid eyeliner that will help you create the look you want without any smudges.

I am really loving the applicator of this! It's a pen tip, but it is actually really sturdy and stiff. It actually looks like a really thin marker. This eyeliner would be perfect for those who are starting off with liquid eyeliner. It literally feels like you're drawing on your liner with a marker. It's not flaky (huge plus!) and can stand light to medium pressure without smudging.

7. Loose Button exfoliating pad - Reveal the radiance of your skin by removing the outer layer of dead skin cells with this effective, yet gentle exfoliating pad.

I don't really have much to say about since I really have no need for it. It's a thoughtful addition though, since cooler weather means more dry and flaky skin for most people!

Overall opinion on the box? I'm on the fence. I really enjoyed 3 products (the serum, eyeliner and hair elixir) and am neutral about 3 products (the mascara, primer, and nail polish). I could really care less about the exfoliating pad to be honest, but I'm sure there are tons of people out there who enjoy it.

There was a lot of pressure on the Loose Button team to present a fantastic first box, and I think they did a decent job. The new packaging is absolutely beautiful and I love all the gold in it. There was a decent variety of products, but I would love to see more colour cosmetics (blush, eye shadow, etc.). This new seasonal box was supposed to be geared towards Fall, but I would only consider half of the products to be 'Fall-ish.' With an equal number of hits and misses, there is some definite room for improvement. I hope they continue to refine their subscription box service and present a more season-appropriate box for the coming Winter!

Been doing our thing for a minute, and now both our hearts are in it

The nights have started to cool down lately in Toronto, which means Fall is just around the corner. This summer has seriously flown by. I know a lot of people love the Autumn season because they can start layering, but I do hope Toronto manages to stay in the mid-20s for just a while longer.. I'm not ready to let go of the warm sunshine just yet!
