This is going to be an extreeeeemely photo-heavy entry. PN and I decided to head towards Centre Island on the Friday of this past long weekend. After making the drive down and dropping $30 on parking alone, we headed towards the dock, only to realize that we sure as hell weren't making it to the ticket booth any time soon. It was easily a 2-3 hour wait! We didn't want to waste our parking, so we decided to walk along Harbourfront.
After walking for only a few minutes, we came across a line (which we immediately jumped in) that turned out to be the waiting line for a water taxi! For $10 per person, they will take a group of people to Centre Island. I only included the first photo because I've been really impressed by how long my hair has gotten.
It was insanely packed, but the island is huge so it was pretty bearable. We were really excited to rent bikes, but it was expensive and only by the hour, so we decided to foot it instead. Our original plan was to walk along the beaches towards Hanlan's Point (one end of the island), and then walk through the trails back towards Ward's Island (the other end of the island). It took us 4 hours to walk half the island! We gave up on the idea of going to the other side, haha.
The weather was perfect in the beginning. The sun was out and shining, but there was a great breeze. By the time we reached the first beach, the breeze was gone and the bag I was carrying had seemed to gain 100 pounds, haha. I love this bag because it's really deep and roomy, but everything heavy seems to magically make its way down to the bottom, no matter how I organize the inside. I call it my toilet bag.
Our last stop (and the highlight of our entire trip) was the clothing optional beach. This area was JAM PACKED. There were tons of people (not all of them nude), which was really surprising because the stretches of beach we had been walking on were pretty quiet. We only made it a few feet in to the area before we gave up. There was no sitting room! We also had to leave because I had a really goofy smile on my face, and PN was getting embarrassed. LOL so immature, I knowz.
After boarding the free return ferry, we weren't quite ready to go home yet. We dropped our stuff off at the car and decided to finish our walk around Harbourfront.
They had a lot of stuff going on in Harbourfront Centre. There was a jaw-dropping skipping rope demonstration, and the skating rink was filled with water so that we could soak our aching feet. We also took major advantage of all the free samples.
I hope everyone had an amazing long weekend! Happy belated Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians, as well as a happy Fourth of July to all the Americans. And of course, to save the best for last... Happy birthday to my beloved PN! You are the funniest, most amazingly patient man I know, and I'm forever grateful for your presence in my life.
What I'm wearing: American Apparel tank dress, H&M everything else (belt, shorts, shoes & bag)
